Microgaming develops Tomb Raider slot game
Internet gaming provider Microgaming has won the licensing right to develop a game, which exploits the image of the popular video game Tomb Raider and its Lara Croft character.
The company had been in negotiations with entertainment software developer and publisher Eidos, the creator of the very successful Tomb Rider game and owner of the brand of the same name. This game inspired Hollywood directors to shoot a similar movie featuring Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.
According to Onlinecasinonews.com, the new game by Microgaming will be constructed as a video slot, based around 15 playlines, with a maximum bet per spin set at 75 cents. Players will be able to gamble with any amount ranging from one cent to one dollar. Players can also win bonuses from free spins. The maximum cash prize of US$37,500 (from a maximum bet) may increase to US$112,500 if played with the free spin x3 multiplier feature. The plot of the game, based on the treasure hunt theme, introduces a wide range of bonuses, scatters, free spins and wild symbol awards.
“The licensing of such a globally recognized brand as Tomb Raider is a coup for us. Whilst working on this new online video slot, we have seen some great graphics come out of our studios,” said Mark Fredericks, a spokesperson of Microgaming.
This week some online casinos start running Tomb Rider game. Among them are Spin Palace and Ruby Fortune as well as Viper Casinos of Vegas Partner.
